1. Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using AMA Cite at https://www.ama-citation-generator.xyz, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use AMA Cite on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization.

2. The service

AMA Cite is a browser-based tool for creating, reviewing, and exporting AMA-style references. It can format information you enter manually and, when you request it, retrieve bibliographic metadata from third-party sources such as DOI, PMID, ISBN, title, or URL lookup services.

The service is currently provided without a subscription or account requirement. We may add, remove, limit, or price features in the future. Any paid feature will be presented with its applicable pricing and terms before you purchase it.

3. Review every result

Automated metadata can be incomplete, outdated, ambiguous, or wrong. AMA Cite does not guarantee that a generated reference is accurate, complete, correctly abbreviated, accepted by a particular journal, or suitable for a particular assignment or publication.

• Check the original source and the metadata returned by any lookup provider.
• Confirm your instructor, institution, publisher, or journal’s current style requirements.
• Make sure each citation supports the claim, table, figure, or passage where you use it.
• Review authors, title, journal abbreviation, date, volume, issue, pages, DOI, and access details.

AMA Cite is a formatting and research aid. It is not a substitute for source verification, academic judgment, legal advice, medical advice, or editorial review.

4. Third-party services and links

Lookup features may connect your browser to Crossref, PubMed and NCBI services, Google Books, Open Library, or Semantic Scholar. Those services are not operated by AMA Cite. Their availability, responses, accuracy, terms, and privacy practices are outside our control.

The site may link to third-party research, educational, or publisher pages. A link does not mean that we endorse the destination or guarantee its content. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s terms.

5. Acceptable use

You may use AMA Cite only lawfully and in a way that does not harm the service or others. You must not:

• Use the service to violate applicable law or another person’s rights.
• Submit patient information, protected health information, passwords, or confidential material to a lookup field.
• Probe, scan, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the site or its providers.
• Attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, security measures, or technical restrictions.
• Use automated requests in a way that violates a third-party provider’s terms or creates unreasonable load.
• Misrepresent AMA Cite’s output as verified, endorsed, or professionally reviewed.

6. Your content and generated files

You retain your rights in citation information and other material you enter or create. You are responsible for having the right to use and submit that material. To operate a lookup, your browser may send the relevant query to the selected third-party provider, as described in the Privacy Policy.

AMA Cite does not claim ownership of your citation list or exported files. The site, its software, design, branding, original articles, and other materials provided by AMA Cite are owned by or licensed to us and may not be copied, sold, or reused outside applicable law or permission.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, including a lookup provider, export format, or content, at any time. We may also limit access when needed for maintenance, security, abuse prevention, or operational reasons. We do not promise that the service will be available without interruption or that every feature will work in every browser or region.

We may update these terms as the service changes. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will use a reasonable notice method available through the site.

8. Disclaimers and limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, AMA Cite is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that the service or its output will be accurate, complete, current, secure, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. We are not responsible for a third-party provider’s data, downtime, or policy.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, AMA Cite and the people who operate it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

You are responsible for checking and correcting generated references before submitting or publishing them.
